Uninstall safari 4 and install safari 3

Hi.
Since I installed Safari 4 on my intel mac tiger os x, I have not been able to use my webdeveloper software Coda, from panic.com. There is a problem between flashplayer 10, Safari 4 and Coda.

Therefore, I would like to uninstall Safari 4 and install Safari 3 again.

Can anyone tell me how I can do this?

HI,

Try repairing disk permissions before trying to uninstall Safari. You can't revert to a prior version.

First, Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Hi Carolyn.

Thanks for the tip, but I have already done this. Didn't help.

I dont think there is anything I can do. Its something that needs to be fixed by maybe Adobe or Apple. Dont know.

There is a detailed discussion on this topic here.

However, its a big shame if its not possible to revert to an older browser. 😟

HI,

Try posting in the Safari Forum There are some amazing Safari gurus that might be able to help you.

You changed your profile??? Even though you are running 10.4.11 you might try the 10.4.11 combo update available here.

And it's a good idea to tell us what trouble shooting you've already tried in your original post in the future. Thank you.

I got this from the Safari for Mac Discussions...and it worked for me. Just finished doing it and here I am.
****************
Download Safari 3.1.1 Update from Apple's Download page. http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/safari311.html

Quit Safari.
Delete Safari
Delete the receipts file at /Library/Receipts/Safari4.0Tiger.pkg
Empty Trash

Mount Safari 3.1.1.dmg file
Run Safari311UpdPPC.pkg
Perform 'Upgrade'
Restart
*************
Of course you'd want the Intel version as opposed to the above PPC version. Also, I haven't updated to 3.2.x yet. We'll see how that goes too. And, RE the last two steps, when I finished installing 3.1.1, the .pkg prompted me to restart. Then I repaired permissions, then I opened Safari from Dock...and here I am.
