Yah this is very strange, the device cannot see my Jawbone headset, but see's my phone just fine. Wish there was someway to truly know what syncs with the bluetooth and what doesn't.
I was able to pair my LG Decoy's headset with it, and I tried using it with the Skype app and the Voice Memos app. I can get audio through the headset, but the apps keep telling me I have no mic attached.
Having Bluetooth problems too. I turned on 3 different Bluetooth devices to see if the Touch could see them and it just keeps "Searching..." I was able to use my cellphone and my laptop to see the Touch. When I tried pairing from either one, the Touch responded and gave a menu to add the device passcode and then the Touch will list them as a device but listed them as "Not Connected". My main reason for upgrading to 3.0 was to be able to use a Bluetooth headset with the Skype app to make calls. Hope this can be resolved.
well, this is a bit of a problem. My MacBook Air sees the Touch and its name, but when it comes down to pairing it fails...Nothing happens when I try to pair it with a headset or a phone. All in all the bluetooth just doesn't work. Really frustrating, I was looking forward to using the headset for skype.
I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with a problem getting my iPod Touch to recognize my Bluetooth headset. Mine also just keeps on "searching." My unit is a Cobra CBTH1.
I have the same problem with my ipod touch 2G running 3.0 OS, which won't pair with my H700 headset. The H700 will pair with my MacBookPro and it works fine for input and output, and the ipod touch will pair with the MacBookPro but then only gives a "not connected." I wonder if these are functions that will be "unlocked" for another 10 dollars at some point....Oh, well, at least the google maps street view has been enabled, which is cool.
The iPod Touch uses a Bluetooth Profile called "A2DP". A2DP is for Stereo Audio output to allow a device to send high quality, stereo audio signals to a receiving device, eg: Headphones. Stereo headphones often come with a microphone built in to be used with phones, however to use this, the other device needs to support a Bluetooth profile made for audio input, either Headset (HSP), Hands-Free (HFP) and Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP) profiles. The iPod Touch doesn't support HSP, HFP or AVRCP and thus doesn't allow you to use your headset as a microphone.
Basically, the bluetooth in your iPod is a one-way street. Sorry guys, I'm disappointed too 😟

As for pairing your device, try putting your device into discoverable/visible mode (the non-iPod device). Most headphones just need you to hold down the power button a couple seconds longer. This will allow your iPod to see the device.
Well, that is unfortunate and plainly suck_s. No need to upgrade to iPod touch 2G for me then! The only reason I'd want to is to be able to use Skype on it. Other than that, my 1G version works just as well. Boo on Apple.
I agree completely Conal Ho. I wouldn't have upgraded to iphone os 3 if I had known that the "bluetooth" supplied by apple is only for headphones. MAJOR disappointment 😟
