Activation Server down?

Activation Server down?

After iTunes spent 2 HOURS downloading 3.0, now all I get is a message that my iPhone can't be updated because Apple's Activation Server is "unavailable". Can anyone tell me how to get around this or is it happening to everyone?

Active: iMac (G5, G4), Powerbook G4, iPhone, iPod, MP2100 Retired: iMac G3, A2c, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Mac OS 10.5.6, Mac OS 9.2.2, iPhone OS 2.2.1, Newton OS 2.1

my software update took 3 minutes too download but then it took so long to backup i think i was too late because then the servers were temporarily unavailable... i think its just overflow again.. something apple said wouldnt happen this time around

I'm having the same problem. More than likely that I won't be able to update before work. My guess is that either they're really overloaded with people downloading the update or people are having serious problems with the update and Apple paused the downloading until they have a better handle on what's wrong. Either way I guess I'll have to wait it out.

yea i got the same problem it keeps tellin me the server is down, well if its down then how come i got the update??!! not cool apple i think they need to come a bit more prepaird for this kinda stuff i know there flat out with this update being realeased but come on really?

Yeah... happened last time, happening again this time. I really wish Apple would take the approach that we are not updating an iPod... but an iPhone that has a lot of information and connectivity requirements... and we don't have time to wait for connectivity issues during these updates! This is absolutely unacceptable Apple.

Mine just now started working and all I did was to just keep trying. I know that's not 'technical' help. It took probably 30 minutes or so after the download?
