I'm trying to install iPhone OS 3.0, it downloaded just fine but when it came time to install the install failed because "The iPhone activation server is temporarily unavailable". I have been retrying the install process constantly but have had no luck, is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any tips on how to accomplish a successful install?
MacBook 2.16ghz Intel Core 2 Duo,
Mac OS X (10.5.1),
2gb ram
Don't understand why everyone is rushing, is there any reason why we can't install this 3.0 in a week, two weeks or so... when everyone who is in a rush is done?
There are not enough new features yet to make it worthwhile to having to deal with a dead phone for a few days fighting for network connectivity.
I will wait until this weekend or next week when it is quieter. I have downloaded the new 3.0 and will install when I feel safer doing it w/o issues.
Maybe I am the only one, but then again I have only had the phone 30-days.
Disconnecting your internet really does work! I was very skeptical when I tried it but it worked just fine and quick too! Thanks guys.
But really, all the days I was counting down for this update and the hours I spent today trying to download it really wasn't worth it. I'm just glad I can text on landscape.
Apple=Big Disappointment
AT&T=Bigger Disappointment. I want my MMS!
i wish this would come back on line im getting fed up with this i did my ipod touch ok but when i try my iphone they say the server is down try again later ?????????????????
I had this same problem but I found a solution that worked for me.
First, I pressed OK on the message you were talking about.
Second, I disconected my Internet Connection.
Third, I pressed Update on iTunes and it told me I needed Internet.
Fourth, I reconnected and pressed Update and it worked!
since I did not by pass the activation, after the update process was over I got a message saying there was a settings update available from my network provider. I think it must be the mms related settings.
WowSOAks, I can't believe how much this threadhas grown since I last checked! 🙂 wish I had I heard of the unplugging Internet trick as I ended up doing it the hard way, retrying the install until it went through eventually.
