Spell Check has stopped working

My spell check on iWork '08 has stopped working. I have checked the inspector, the language is set to English. I have check spelling as you type, it's on and even when I go to edit>spelling>check spelling, it won't show the misspelled words. I could write djfkjfnv and it will say it's right. The spell check was working fine until my document got over 38 pages, now it won't check the spelling. What's going on?

No I never figured it out. I had to take my mac in to the apple store to fix the cd/dvd drive and I asked the guy helping me why the spell check was not working. He tried everything, and he couldn't figure out why it wasn't spell checking. He said he would have to look into it more. At first it wouldn't spell check on big documents (over 40 pages), but last night I was working on a 10 page document and it stopped working again. It so frustrating!

I found that if I have pasted something from a word document into a pages document, it breaks pages spell check. erasing the .plist fixes it, but it breaks again when I try to paste a certain word .doc that has some weird double underlining format in it. So after I paste the word doc, I type gibberish and it doesn't see it as misspelled. If I unpaste or delete out that .doc I just put in, then I start typing gibberish and it catches it! Maybe it has something to do with pasting from Word then?

Why not try to use the huge script:

set the clipboard to (the clipboard as text )

Copy to clipboard
run the script
Paste.

Doing that you will paste clean datas.

The alternate way is to import the .doc file containing the datas.
When the import process is done, copy from the imported doc then Paste in the Pages document;

The code designed to import is more powerful that the copy-paste one.
