Strange WiFi problem on iPhone 3G after 3.0 update

Just thought I'd see if anyone else is having the same strange problem with the WiFi on their iPhone after the 3.0 update.

Essentially, WiFi works fine after the phone has been freshly booted (i.e. right after a restart) - however, once it has put itself into standby mode it will no longer download data over a WiFi connection after the phone is turned on again. It remains able to find the WiFi network, but simply refuses to download data over it.

Have tried restarting my phone and changing the WiFi security from WPA to WEP, but to no avail...

What's up?

If you buy expensive car and car do not work... it's car and producer problem... you don't have to try different fuel... different oil... different way to drive or to start engine!!!!

Stop with idiot moddings on iphone and routers!!!

Apple have to be serious and fix the problem!
I bought apple phone not to jump in caos like win users... but.. this 3.0 is full win ******* problems... and apple what's working on for 3.1? ...on video... on icons... on *** twitter ...on *** stupid things!! that's not good!!

Idiot Modding???

Now why the **** do you have to ask like such a jerk. I'm just trying to shed some light on the subject. How is changing a mode of B/G to B or G only to see if it helps such a huge deal for people until a fix is released. Im not asking them to put in an access list or changing DNS options. Like I said it may or may not work but it has worked for me for the last couple of hours considering that I haven't been able to stream on youtube past the 3 minutes marker since I bought the phone.

I agree with you apple needs to stop avoiding the problem and get off there behinds and fix this problem. I bought this phone for Wi-fi ability and I have been highly annoyed and vocal about the problem. I also figure it to be a 3.0 OS problem as it did not affect my Wi-Fi on my Iphone 3G with the 2.2.1 OS installed on it every every topic pertains to only after 3.0 OS. The stupid attitude was unnecessary.

I do see the exact same problem, in many areas in my house I have bad or no reception anymore....and prior to OS 3 this was no problem and excellent. So since OS 3 I can unfortunately no longer manage iTunes and AppleTV from the sofa....and the AppleTV is perfectly connected to the WLAN. This must be a OS 3 bug..sniff.

I'm suspecting this problem a software problem on the CoreServices.
I'm a developer for Applications for AppStore.

As for that, Apple released the beta 3.1 to all developers and it seems that that software has fixed the problem.

Just letting you know that 3.1 software may have the fix. I do not know when the 3.1 will be publicly be released but i'm guessing sometime this late summer because the MMS option is turned on on the messages and ATT will be allowing MMS this late summer too.

YOu can always try resetting the network setting.
Hope this helps!

My dear Apple,

My Precious EUR500 Iphone refuses to find any WiFi networks since Sunday. I had updated to 0s 3.0 one week earlier and things were ok despite the signal was not so strong.

If i was in the US i wouldn't care much since from what other users have written in the forums Apple stores replace the "broken?" phones immediatelly.
But i am in Europe... So here in the other side of the world not only did we pay EUR500 from your (up to one week ago)beautiful phone but we have to WAIT FOR 4 WEEKS TO SEE IF WE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A REPLACEMENT.

SO PLEASE ANSWER US PLEASE: IS THE LOSS OF WIFI
a)A SOFTWARE GLITCH? (thus we wait for 3.1) OR
b)A HARDWARE PROBLEM? (thus 4 weeks ??)

Kind Regards,

AD

That beta 3.1 doesn't do jack to fix the WIFI, folks!!. Sorry to get your hopes up.. I just try the that beta update on a classic and a 3g I-CRAP-FONE.. The wifi always worked for the frist hour or so and it takes a dump and then completely takes a dump on the wifi.... BRAVO!!

Yeah, updated the other part of the useless Apps but doesn't address the wifi issue at all... As always, Good job!!! JOBS!!!.... and your worthless developer dept..

Oh yeah, anyone wants to buy my I-CRAP-FONE with no wifi????? It's great for a door stop...

Same problem. I'm getting a deja vu feeling. Same thing happened with last major upgrade. Here's what I am doing to keep me from testing how well the iphone will go through my sliding glass door and land in the lake out back.

Go to Settings. Turn wifi off. Tick-tock. Turn wifi back on. This usually goes ahead and picks up my signal without further ado, although, admittedly, sometimes I have to put in my password again and again and again.

Thanks apple.
