Netbook performance with itunes

I thought I would post my question here to get some opinions before I went off and bought something. The corporate overlords are banning any personal external drives connecting to a work pc. I don't want to part with my itunes collection at work either. So I'm faced with getting a netbook w/my external drive to run itunes with. So my question is how well will itunes perform with 1.3ghz or 1.6 ghz CPU and 1gb of ram. My itunes library file is sitting at 53 megs. Its a very huge library so I need a netbook that will to handle it. What do people think?

I'm considering a Dell mini 10" If I go to dell I can get 1.6 ghz but costco has one for same price with 1.3ghz. Costco will have a better warranty. All the PCs I run itunes on either have a lot of ram or fast cpu which is why I'm wondering about the performance on a netbook.

Thanks!

For music it should be fine; such a system more than meets the requirements for iTunes compatibility except for HD video. I've run iTunes for audio tracks on much slower systems that that. It'll probably also be OK for video, though it will depend on the graphics processor used in the netbook you select. HD videos probably won't play at all, or will play erratically. Perhaps someone here who has a netbook will be able to offer hand-on experiences, though.

Thanks Dave! I'm sure work would frown on me running video while I'm supposed to be working. I don't have much of any HD stuff yet so I'm sure I'll be ok there. My main pc at home which has better specs than the netbook (to some degree) can't play any video. So I'm used to not accessing my video through itunes. I just load it up to my iphone.

I might try the costco dell netbook then. Costco has a 90day no questions asked return policy so I can always try it out and if I dont like the performance I can return it.
