Q: Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers ,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot !

I have tried going onto settings, logging out and back in and re-entering my security code. This hasn't worked for me, and I know all my information is correct as I have used it to buy apps and things recently and haven't changed anything. I have no idea why it has suddenly started to do this, anyone have any other suggestions?

Try imputting your debit card number in this format 0000-0000-0000-0000 instead of 000000000000 it worked for me :)

Debit cards are not accepted in the US iTunes store and have no security code.

SO i had the same issue...I had looked on a bunch of websites about it...I tryed getting rid of the card off the account and it wouldnt work. Then one time i tried to do something it just brought me to my purchase history and it had a bunch of songs in red saying i owed money. I guess they didnt charge it because i usally keep most of my money in savings so i transfered some to checking and i tried it again and it charged and im pretty sure its all fixed.

I use my debit card which has a security code on the back just like a credit card does. I am able to use it interchangably as a debit/credit card but it all comes out of my checking account. Sunday I could download and use iTunes and Monday and today, I cannot. I re-entered all the info for my card again and still doesn't work. Getting frustrated.

They give this message when your credit card is over limit. I guess Apple is too nice to flat out tell you you're broke

Impossible, as I use a debit card and have a positive checking account balance (and did at the time I got the error).

Ok so apparently if you are using a DEBIT CARD like i am, iTunes will give this error if you DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY to finish the bill. apparently things I downloaded three days ago wern't billed immediately like i originally thought, so my bank account was dry when the bill hit from Apple, it's dumb they don't tell you "Hey, you don't have enough funds to finish this bill, and can't download anything untill it's fixed. sorry " but nooooo, I hafto figure it out on my own, but only took 45min cause i'm sharp and this was my first issue like this

SO, for those of you getting this error, do some math like an adult, check your bank account or credit card AVAILABLE balance, and you should be able to go from there, like i did.

Hmm I thought that could be why mine wasn't working at first but surely this shouldn't be a problem when downloading free stuff and mine was working fine before :S

They will block all free updates as well if you are getting that message.  If your Debit card is not working get a $10 GC and when you try to enter it it will say your account is locked blah blah.  Follow the flow from there and you will get fixed.

Try getting a GC - that seems to solve this error.  The error is incorrect and your account is either negative due to apples mistake or they security locked your account - Tech support can't tell if either of those are the case if you call them - I found that out.  Enter teh GC and it will subtract any money you owe or it will say your account was security locked because entering your info failed too many times.  They will direct you to reset your password.  Then go to billing and select none for billing and save.  log out/log back in and put the same CC info that failed a thousand times and it will accept it.
