Q: Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers ,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot !

When it asks for a security code I simply put my 3 digits from the back of my credit card and it worked for me

A lot of you are probably placing your (pin) code in there that is incorrect

Gracias!

I find I enter the card number and the code on the back - as you would expect - but when I Enter it the red message pops up to tell me to enter valid payment details. I have re-checked everything over again and it still won't accept what is a valid card. All I was trying to do was to update stored information because I have a new bank card.

I'm having the same problem too! I made a purchase earlier today and it said 'Purchase Successful' and I got what I bought straight away. However when I tried to change my debit card to my brothers debit card (he wanted to buy something and we share the Apple account)  it said 'There was a problem with a previous purchase. Please update billing info' So I put my info back in and it said 'Security code invalid' so I tried it again and it said 'Payment method declined.'

I know for sure that I had enough money in my account so I have no idea why this is happening! It's disgusting how this forum was started 4 years ago yet the problem still hasn't been resolved.

After days of struggling with this myself, I finally figured out that it was asking me for my 3 digit security code on the back of the card and I was entering my 4 digit pin number by mistake. Once I realized this, it worked just fine. Although I've had the same payment info entered as when I originally got the phone so I dont really know why the security code magically disappeared, so that was annoying for the get-go. Anyway, remember to enter the 3 digit code from the back of the card, not your pin number! Hopefully this helps someone because it was driving me bonkers

Perhaps you are using VISA debit card instead of the credit card. If it is really the case, than you should check your balance in your debit card.

If your balance is in a very small amount of money or even empty, try to add some money to your debit card. Finally, you should go to your account settings in iTunes/Appstore and try to re-input your card security code.

By doing these steps, I can now use my debit card with my Apple ID again. Hope it helps.

Oh my god this thread was started in 2009 and there is STILL no actual resolution??!!!

I buy everything on iTunes/Apple Store with a debit card, no problem. But I want to set up a child's account and must have a credit card (I don't know why, there is a CRV code on the debit card). So, I put my credit card in my Apple ID online. No problem. My debit card is still showing on my phone 2 hours later (surely it would have updated by then?) I rebooted phone, still there. Put the CC info in the Settings in my phone - says invalid security code.

    This is so unacceptable.

A security code that begins with a zero causes an "invalid security code" error. Believe it or not, Apple, security codes that start with zero ARE VALID! This issue goes all the way back to 2009. So six years later we're still experiencing this? Come on, Apple! That is irresponsible. My husband, daughter and I all have Macs. We all have iPhones. My husband has an iPad. Maybe we need to rethink this.

The new Apple TV specified the last four digits of the credit card that Apple has on file for my account, but rejected my security code. Turns out they wanted my wife's security code for her card which is used for our family plan.

I just had this problem this morning.  I reentered all of the information, tried to remove the card, which didn't work, tried selecting none, which didn't work.  I restarted everything and entered the exact same information and it worked.  I can't believe this has been an issue for so long.
