Q: Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers ,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot !

I have this problem since a month ago. They supports told me that the problem it's with my bank and not with they store. Of course, and after read all your post from 2 years ago, this problem it's recurrent.

I hope they can fix this, it's a total frustation with this.

Hi! I just had the same problem a moment ago. I'm really worried because I just bought my iPod 2 weeks ago and now I can't download a free app. Whenever I download an app, it tells me to edit My billing history. When I did, I entered my security code then it said my security code is invalid which is not because I was holding my credit card at that time. Later on the error message said "billing process unavailable. Please try again later" (or something similarto that) now that I saw this thread, I'm panicking so much since this Problem was never been solved. Or was it?

Here's what worked for me. I upgraded to a new iphone. After syncing the phone, I tried to update apps and that's when I got the verify message. The security code did not work until I logged on to itunes from my laptop and went to my account to see what the code was. That's when I saw it had to be updated there FIRST and then go back to your device and update. The codes your using are correct. It just has to be re-entered from your original computer first. Hope this helps!

For me it helped to log out from itunes in all devices and set the payment method to none.

Hi Everyone, I faced this fraustrating problem of "Please Enter a valid security code" for 3 days. I spoke with apple technical support and other for more than half and hour but no useful feedbacks.

    Then this WORKED for me:

What I did was to start reviewing my form in details again during registration.

NB: Make sure the country in your credit or debit card (Yes, they accept debit card, mind is debit) billing address is the same as the country you selected in the form (that's where the code is registered). By default, its United State.

Different country of residence and different country of your credit/debit cards institution results to this error (as in my case, which might work for you too)

Wow ! So many people facing that problem ! My post from a few years ago got 100k views and 80 replies ! Anyways yes I'd like to point Linus Chibros' post out as it was indeed what was my problem - changing country and Store, yet not changing bank or bank account, thus confusing the billing system, and putting it on its guard.

you have to have at least 2.50 on your card because apple charge you to change information on your account!

This is what fixed my problem:

I got the same 'Security Code Invalid' message that everyone else is complaining about.  I'm also using a Visa Debit Card like others are talking about.  Here's what happened and what fixed it.  For "some reason" the payment request from Apple for my last purchase was denied.  This automatically locks the account until the balance is payed off with an Apple iTunes gift card.  You can not use any other means of funds to clear tha balance once it's locked.  I purchased a $15 gift card and applied it to the balance.  Whalah!!!  I was once again asked to verify my security code on my debit card and it worked with no problems.

Hope this helps someone else, because I fought with it for far too long!

I have big problem where credit card is *not* from country which is selected and used in App Store (long story, but everything is valid). Also this combination worked very well for a long long time. I payed for number of apps etc, in Itunes store and App Store as well.

    So here is the thing.

I bought 3 apps 5 days ago. One for Mac and 2 for Iphone. Same cc, same money, identical as in previous billion times. After that I got email with Itunes store receipt for Mac app, for Iphone ones didn't.

Today I just tried to update some apps in App Store and I am stucked.

The problem is that I owe about 6 EUR for 2 Iphone purchased app. I have money on cc but can do anything in both stores. I get error msg: "The payment card you entered is not valid in store you selected. Please provide valid payment card for country you selected".

I tried to change app store country to be US (have some gift cards) but can't do that, because I need to regulate my debt. Also can't regulate it, because don't have valid credit card for country which is selected in App Store.

How it is possible that I bought something last time without validation of my cc. To be even worse and more confusing one app is payed as well that day?! Same day, in ten minutes I finished all process!

Do you have some ideas how to solve this situation? Maybe some of you guys and girls experienced same problem? It is very frustrating, because I am locked in some situation where my hands are tied.

    Here what WORKED with me:

Inside app store (imac), while trying to set up the security code that doesn t work:

    1. Change de security code to an invalid one

    2. Change de state/province to a invalid one

    3. SAVE (it will complain, thats ok)

    4. Go and get it right

    5. Save again.

    VOILA!

Incredible but after 3 hour getting my guts off that stupid thing worked!

Hey guys, I know this doesn't fix the problem but it certainly took the edge off for me.

I don't have a solution for downloading paid apps, but if you want free ones in the meantime, I just went into

the iTunes store from my iMac, then went into apps>iPhone (or iPad if you like) and downloaded from there, as long as they are free apps it isn't asking me to verify anything and then I just sync them to my iPhone. If anyone can shed some light on the matter, I've only had this problem since buying my iPhone 4s, dunno if that means anything to anyone....
