iPhone is lost while syncing with iTunes

Hi there,

for the longest time my iPhone hasnt been very friendly when syncing with iTunes.
It often disconnects, the iPhone plays that "I'm connected" sound out of nothing, then a few seconds later iTunes hangs and displays various error messages like "can't sync the device '', there is none" or so (in German of course, sorry for my bad translation).

Here's what Console.app tells me:

This has long been a problem for me (since I had it), I've been re-installing iTunes for several times - it only got better once when I had 8.1 fresh reinstalled, but that's history now since there's iOS 3.0 and iTunes 8.2.

I've also checked this post: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1988855&start=0&tstart=0
The error messages are not quite the same, it also didn't fix my problem. Have removed all stuff from MobileDeviceService and MobileDevice.framework and so on rebooted afterwards, reinstalled iTunes 8.2 - nothing helps - it only keeps getting worse.

What can I do to make my iPhone sync again!?

Thanks in advance,

Hi there

I have exactly the same problem (same error messages on the console - although off course device nb and port differ). No way I can sync my Notes between my iPhone and my MacBookPro

Tried about every other solution from available posts.... This is getting rather frustrating. Any Idea besides "Factory rest"???

Thanks

Cheers

Sometimes, I connect the iPhone 3GS (32G) and everything works as I expect; the Mac sees the phone as connected until I pull the cable. Other times, the connection lasts just a few minutes. Here are console entries from the latest instance.

First, when the phone was plugged in, I got:

7/6/09 9:21:12 PM [0x0-0x9009].com.apple.systemuiserver[153] DigiHub:sendChargingCommandToDevice RequestExtraPower(kUSBPowerDuringWake) returned 500
7/6/09 9:21:12 PM [0x0-0x9009].com.apple.systemuiserver[153] DigiHub:sendChargingCommandToDevice sending command with sleep: 0, wake 500

At the time the connection was lost, I got:

7/6/09 9:29:25 PM com.apple.usbmuxd[31] MuxClearPipeStall Can't clear pipe stall 2. Error: 0xe00002ed
7/6/09 9:29:25 PM com.apple.usbmuxd[31] MuxTCPSendRST MuxInterfaceSend failed: 0xffffffff
7/6/09 9:29:25 PM [0x0-0x681681].com.apple.iTunes[32065] MobileDevice: send_message: Could not send message size: Broken pipe
7/6/09 9:29:25 PM [0x0-0x681681].com.apple.iTunes[32065] MobileDevice: receive_message: Could not receive size of message: -1 Bad file descriptor

A couple messages were replicated, I assume because they were sent to multiple logs and I was getting this from the "All Messages" display.

Hope this gets fixed soon. It's almost as irritating as not having a todo list. 🙂

Ron.

I really don't find any solution, and i don't want to do a factory reset. I don't know if my backup can be restored. Please apple help us!

Hi,
I am experiencing the same type of problem with a MacBook Air and an iPhone3G (see my posting: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2082423).
I skimmed a lot of entries on the forum and I tried many offered solutions without success: Change of cable + reset of the iPhone + reinstall of iTunes. The unique USB port seems to work fine with other peripherals. I have tested the sync with a Dell portable PC with Windows vista and it just works fine.

As the problem arises after some time, I have limited the syncing to "key" items and it works.

I haven't found yet a complete answer to this issue, it could be an interrupt problem (software conflict ?) at the USB port level. Hopefully, some technical people from Apple should look into it.

Cheers,
Fernand

I am prepared to say that my issue was caused by hardware. I had been using a Mophie Juice Pack Air combination case and battery. This case connects to the iPhone using its standard docking connection and wraps around the back and sides of the phone like a normal case, but a bit thicker to accommodate a battery that extends the amount of portable power available at all times. Very cool. It has a small USB connector on its bottom for sync and charging (both its battery and the phone's battery).

Well, last weekend, that USB connector gave way from whatever it was mounted with, making all charging and sync impossible. Since then, I've been docking with my MacBook using a cable going to the iPhone's standard connector. Since then, I have not seen any instance of the iPhone dropping its connection to my MacBook Pro. So, I'm going to consider the problem to have been in the Mophie's USB having an intermittent connection on at least one of its pins.

After some versions of iTunes, and now iPhone 3.0 comes iTunes 9 and iPhone 3.1
but did anything solve the problem? NO!
And the best of all: my iPhone just got kicked while upgrading to 3.1 - meaning that its now in repair-mode (or recovery or how else is this called in English?) so iTunes wants to recover it - which fails because its still loosing the connection every minute - tada, cat-n-mouse-game!

So ****** of iTunes and the iPhone right now - can't use my phone... braindead!

Any of you still experiencing the same problems?
