Screen saver "The Weather Channel" stopped working?

Where can this be downloaded to test?

One possibility, First, Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, move this file to the Desktop.

/Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.<12digitHex Number>.plist

Reboot.

Try repairing disk permissions. Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Is this weather channel screen saver a file you downloaded from the internet, from Apple???

If this is 3rd party software, then you won't see an update for it from Apple.

I would like to add that as of today, neither my Weather Channel screensaver nor my Weather Channel widget in Dashboard are working properly. The screensaver won't display my city's current temperature, and the widget causes Dashboard to crash, so I've had to close it. Re-downloading the widget doesn't help.

I'm having the exact same issue and it just started after the last install of Software Update. If you don't have the Weather Channel Widget running in dashboard it doesn't crash.

I wonder if the Weather Channel's servers aren't playing nicely with their Mac software at the moment? It's strange that everything worked fine until very recently. By the way, I'm using Leopard. I just noticed that this thread is listed under Tiger, but this thread was the best match for my problem.

Just happened this morning when I went to check on the weather. No good when I got home either.

Wow, glad it's not only me. Started having the issue early this AM. Must be something the Weather Channel changed on there end.

Ditto here with The Weather Channel Dashboard Widget. I get an error message, "...the weather channel dashboard client quit unexpectedly.....'close', 'report', 'reopen'. The 'reopen' button doesn't work; but the 'report' button does work; able to report to Apple. Started here 4-5 days after all the latest updates.

Also, I can't find The Weather Channel Dashboard Widget in widget downloads any longer. I did a search in Widgets; found a link but after clicking it a message comes up saying, "Hmmm....the page you searched can't be found", or somesuch wording.

My Dashboard is screwing up the weather all of a sudden. I have Tiger, just recently downloaded the updates. My Dashboard now does AccuWeather, not Weather.com - and I wonder if this could be the problem. It used to display Weather.com forecast for Los Angeles without my even configuring it, but now all of a sudden it's AccuWeather for Cupertino! The clock is also for Cupertino (at least it's in the same time zone). I found it's AccuWeather now instead of Weather.com only by clicking on Cupertino in the display. Even when I type in Los Angeles in the search field and get LA weather, the Dashboard keeps giving me Cupertino. This is not helpful.

Did anybody else notice a switch from Weather.com to AccuWeather? I wrote AccuWeather to ask what's going on, no answer yet.

And I can find no way to configure Dashboard to display what I want. Any ideas? Thanks.

Having all the same problems, all started yesterday too. Screensaver and widget broke and widget is no longer listed on apple site. Also I have tired all the repair ideas and it is clearly not a problem on my system since nothing was changed. Widget crashes dashboard even when you try to install a fresh copy.

Yes, both the screensaver and widget stopped working a couple days ago and were fine for years before. Well, the screesaver does run, but has no data. Note this is a different problem from the screensaver not working at all, which happened with the Safari 4 update. This is a new problem that just started in the past couple days.

So, Apple must know it's not working, hopefully they have kicked somebody at the weather channel to fix it. The are still advertising the screensaver here though:

I downloaded the widget directly from the Weather Channel website. The link is still active:

The screensaver still appears to be available as well.
