Can I connect my iPhone to my car's bluetooth stereo and listen to music?

I have a 08 Lancer with the stock stereo which has bluetooth and I am wondering if there is a way to play music through the stereo from my iPhone with no cords?

iPhone OS 3.0

Yes! 3.0 includes the profile needed to do this as long as your car's system will support connection to the iPhone. Simply pair them together as you would any other devices.

see, I've tried, I got it connected fine but no music comes out of the speakers. I'll probably play around with it more. Any ideas people? Apparently my car's specific bluetooth stereo has been problematic for people with the same car.

your cars BT system must support streaming stereo music profile (A2DP). If it does you should work, if it does not then you won't.

Just because it does "handsfree" does NOT mean it does A2DP. Read the manual and see what BT profiles it supports.

According to Apple UK tech support A2DP only works on iphone 3gs which has a new bluetooth chipset.

They never mentioned that in any of the presentations I saw.........

Thats not correct.

The iPhone 3G S, iPhone 3G, and iPod touch 2nd generation all support A2DP with iPhone OS 3.0.
