"carrier offers authorized unlocking" iphone update to 3.0

Havent really found an answer to my question yet.

So i have a iphone that is "carrier offers authorized unlocking" from poland (model is mb489pl). would i be safe to update to os 3.0? i am in the US using the US itunes. i dont wanna update it and have it lock on me.

I have a carrier unlocked iPhone from Australia. (Originally on Optus, now on T-Mobile in USA) I had no problems with the update (other than server issues like everyone else), but make sure it's been officially unlocked by the original carrier and apple, if so, its all good. also, if your carrier already supports MMS, your good to go!

I updated and everything went fine. It said something like iphone is unlocked after it finished.

Yes i got my iphone legally unlocked by my carrier in Australia and managed to update the firmware to 3.0 whilst in the UK. Working fine now. But i did have mega problems which i managed to solve, details in another posting today, during the upgrade.........
