Shadow on Mail icon

This morning when I opened the Mail application I found that there were two copies of every new email in my inbox.

Also, the Mail icon in the dock now has a a faint shadowy circle with the apple logo on it. I'm sure that wasn't there before was it, or am I becoming paranoid?

iMac 2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Further to my previous question, I just ran disk utility to see if there were any problems and when I checked Macintosh HD I got the message "invalid sibling link". Is this a big worry?

Hi Tony,

Good catch, that is really important to fix before doing anything else.

Unfortunately DU can't fix all that much, your best bet is DiskWarrior, you need the CD though.
