How to Delete Autofill Email Addresses?

How to I delete an email address that appears in the autofill options in email even though it's not in my contacts? The Apple store genius told me restoring my iPod Touch would do the trick but it did not. According to the genius, the iPod Touch remembers frequently used addresses "as a convenience." The downside is that when the address is a dead email address, there's no way to get rid of it.

I have a similar problem, when I send my son an email for my iPod touch, it picks up an earlier now discontinued email address. I notice that the "offered" email address is higher up the list. So even when I select the "current email address" it seems to default to the higher address.

It also offers a long list of other email addresses for my son including several "special" ones generated to enable updating MobileMe (and previous dotMac) galleries. None of which are on the iPod under contacts.

Any other suggestion how to clear these addresses would be appreciated.

I have this problem as well and am looking for a solution. Anyone??

In the "real" Mail app in OS 10.5.x, you can tell Mail to "Remove from Previous Recipients List" an address that you no longer want suggested when you go to input an address on a message; but there seems to be no way to do this on the iPhone/Touch OS.

Unless someone else has figured something else out.....

this is driving me bonkers as well...i email reminders to myself several times a day, and since the new software came out, a 10-year old email address is the top choice. i can't believe there isn't a way to get rid of this, it's so silly. i've cleared out my contacts, and apparently i'm just stuck having to click extra times every time i send an email. nice. several times a day to be frustrated with my expensive new phone!

I also am having a problem with my iPhone GS. I input an email incorrectly and used it until the mail was returned. Now when I compose an email the autofill brings up the old incorrect one first and I have to scroll down for the correct on (if I remember to do that).
Someone suggested restoring it to new status, but then do I have to put in all my contacts again? Has anyone tried this?
