Music synched to iPhone 3GS, but not showing up as content

So I got my iPhone 3GS home this morning and hooked it up to sync with my MacPro. I watched it spend the next 30-40 minutes sync up my 10 unlistened to podcasts and 1752 songs.

After it was finished I unhook and head off to work. I get to work and plug the headphones in and hit play....

No Music.

Looking at the info on the iPhone - all the stuff is there - as I only have 10GB of free space on the device, but it's just not there.

Yes, the MacPro is authorized to play my content.

Any ideas?

I've had the exact same problem with my iPhone 3G. This must be a 3.0 OS problem! All of my music is now showing as 'Other'; therefore I have no way of accessing this data to delete and try adding music again, so I must be stuck with the only option of Restoring my iPhone... any fixes?

I have the same problem and have not found a fix. I have had to restore 3 times now and each time have lost access to all music and video within a few hours

There's a number of 3.0 patch iPod issues currently, I've created a compliation post so there's a "catch all" for support.

I had the same problem when sync'ing a large amount of music (~2,000 tracks) but not when sync'ing 40 tracks. What resolved the problem for me was to set the passcode lock, which was on 1 min, to never while sync'ing and hey presto all ok.

A glitch in the OS I guess. Hope it works for you.

Strangely enough, after I got to work and got a few moments free I plugged my iPhone back into my PC (after disabling auto-sync) and my iPhone showed up on the sidebar with all the content listed.

When I disconnected, all of my playlists, podcasts, songs and whatnot were visible again on my iPhone...

Strangeness.

That's exactly the same symptoms as I experienced. Try changing the passcode lock if set and then deselect sync music which should reset the bar at the bottom of the page in iTunes and then reselect it. It worked for me as I assume that when the passcode lock kicks in it prevents sync'ing.

That did not fix it for me, still no tunes and "Other" still occupies most of the drive.

When I've had this problem in the past it has been a corrupt file somewhere and the only solution has been to restore the iPhone.

just curious, but are you using the 'iPod' app to listen to your music? i've seen other posters who were using the 'iTunes' app to try to listen to their music, and couldn't figure out why nothing was there...

Definitiely been using the iPod app. The problem for me only showed up when you plugged in to syc (which is pretty rare) and the content bar in iTunes just showed up orange (I think) rather than multiple colours for different types of content.

you need to do a restore to fix this issue. sorry, but it's the only solution.
