I've been using a Juicepack Air with my 3GS for a few months now with no problems, knock on wood. However..........
The Juicepack as it gets to it's depletion point loses voltage. The iPhone detects this and reads the Juicepack as not compatible. This is normal. All you need to do is charge your Juicepack.
I think it might be best to sync on a POWERED USB connection. I have noticed a few syncing problems as well but only when the Juicepack is dead and attempting to sync on an unpowered port.
I've been using the juicepack for 2 mths and have had the error message. For the past 2 days my phones battery power drains at the rate of 1% per minute! I'll flick it over to the juicepack when it reaches 20% or lower and it takes about 6 min to charge to 100% again. This odd. No way should the phone lose power like that or charge so quickly. I took the juicepack off tonight and the power drain seems to be taking longer than when the juicepack is on the phone (and in the off position)
Anyone else had this issue?
I have a lot of problems with compatibility with this one and other accessories... Today I bought a Mophie Juice Air... and don't work!!! nothing happens with iphone... don't charge, don't sync... nothing... no messages...
I have a Sharp i-Elegance sound system with ipod dock.. it plays ok.. but dont charge...
With my car system (mini cooper with USB port and Y-connector) it don't work at all...
The 3GS requires a 5V USB charger and cannot charge from a 12V Firewire charger. Some older accessories included a Firewire charger, which works with iPods and 2G iPhones, but not with the newer iPhones. There are adapters available that convert Firewire chargers to USB, like http://cablejive.com/iphone3g_chargeconverter.html
I never got the error message with my original Mophie Juicepack Air. I had the mini-USB port break on it and asked Mophie to send a replacement which they did right away.
I just received the new unit and it is giving me the error. I am certain that this is a problem with the production units from Mophie and NOT a software error.
Just to be clear, I use to be able to plug the Juicepack Air in with my iPhone 3GS in it into my Mac into it and it would recognize the phone just fine, sync and everything was groovy.
Since I got the new Juicepack, my computer simply won't recognize the phone when connected to the computer while in the Mophie Juicepack Air. The phone won't show the "charging" screen with the green battery, nor will the battery icon on the top right of the main screen show that the phone is charging.
I do get an Unknown Error message. Just thought I would throw this wrinkle in.
