Take Apart Guide for PM G5 2.0 Dual (Late 2005)

Hello

It has been determined that my PM G5 has a blown power supply. Unfortunately I do not qualify for the repair program as I purchased my PM G5 in late December '05. So, now I'm going to have to try & replace the power supply myself.

I've been searching the web now for about 2 days & did manage to find some guides, the best of which is from '03, but I can't seem to find clear consice instructions for my particular G5. I'm stuck at the point where I need to remove the large plate (the on with G5 printed on it) that covers the CPU's. After that everything I've read/seen seems pretty straight forward.

So, anyone know where I can get a take apart guide for the Power Mac G5 Dual (Late 2005).

Thanks
Tim

Steve, you seem to be the man for teardown guides. Any chance you have one for a Dual 2.5 GHz G5 PPC?

Anyone have take apart guide for a Power Mac Dual 2.7GHz.

Both of you should look here. There are two PowerMac G5 manuals on there - you both want the one that's just labeled "Power Mac G5" as it contains the manual that covers both the dual 2.5 and the dual 2.7. The other manual (the Late 2004 one), only covers the single-processor 1.8 released in October 2004.

Hello Tim,

Check out the site below. It's not 100% what you're looking for but it will help. I'm in the same boat - having bought a dented case with a 2.7 ghz dual PowerMac that I'm looking to replace. I'm not as knowledgeable as to dismantle, but I've been cleaning another one that I bought just last week.

Hope this helps

I sure could use a take apart guide for my PowerMac G5 dual 2.0]

You're going to need to be more specific about which model you have. Do you have the original dual 2.0 (PowerMac7,2) from June 2003 - June 2004, the dual 2.0 (PowerMac7,3) from June 2004 - April 2005, the dual 2.0 from April 2005 - October 2005 (also PowerMac7,3 but with PCI slots instead of PCI-X slots), or the 2.0 dual-core model from October 2005?

You also haven't left any means of contacting you.

I sure could use a tear apart guide for our Power Mac G5 dual 2.0 GHz. Specifically taking out the shield that protects the dual processors. A user spilled hot chocolate throughout and I need to clean and inspect...

You still haven't specified which dual 2.0 model you have, nor have you given me any way to get them to you.

I don't have any Mac Pro guides on me at the moment. I may have the one you need at home.
