Text Messages not showing Contact Name, Only number

I have the 3Gs iPhone and for some reason my text messages are showing the numbers and not the Contact name. My phone contacts were synced from my yahoo mail contacts on my computer. I have to click on the number and the only way it shows the name is by dialing the number... Help please

I had a similar issue. I found out that the problem was that after upgrading to iPhone OS 3.1, my default email account was switched from Exchange (where my contacts are stored) to GMail. When I switched the default email account to my Exchange account, then the contact names started showing up again on text messages.
