Ford (Microsoft) Sync and iPhone 3.0 Bluetooth - how do I disable it?

I have a 3G iPhone with the 3.0 software and drive a Ford with the Microsoft Sync package (bluetooth and USB). Before the 3.0 software, the iPod on the iPhone played through USB and the phone worked over bluetooth just fine.

Now the iPhone starts playing music over Bluetooth media streaming once I start the car, it's a random track and I have no control over what is selected.

I want to disable the Bluetooth streaming without disabling Bluetooth entirely. Any suggestions?

I have researched that site, as well as www.fordsyncforum.com, for info as to how to disable the Bluetooth streaming.

Unfortunately, there is only information to disable Bluetooth altogether, phone and media. I want to disable just the media streaming Bluetooth, either on my iPhone or on the Ford Sync settings. Either one would work.

I have the same problem. I'm using an iPhone 3.0 in a 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. The Sync system is updated with all the latest updates. It seems there is no way to disable the A2DP profile in the iPhone. Nor is there way to disable A2DP in the Sync system.

I don't get the random song playing problem. However, when I connect with USB, I can control the iPhone, but I get no audio. When I switch to BT, the audio comes through fine. I guess the workaround for me is to switch to USB control and selec what I want, then switch to BT to actually listen to it. Annoying, but workable. Hopefully Apple or MS will release a way to disable A2DP in their products soon.

Personally, I don't think this combination of products was envisioned by Apple or MS. I guess they didn't expect anyone to connect the same 2 devices using USB and BT simultaneously.

When you have the USB plugged in, go to the iPod application. With version 3.0, you should see an iPod logo, the words "Accessory Connected", and a little Bluetooth icon at the bottom. You can't control the iPod with the USB plugged in, but you can click the Bluetooth icon to change the output of the iPod from Sync to Dock Connector.

That was my workaround to get the output to go to the USB Sync.

The problem is not the Sync, its the iPhone. Try this:

At the bottom of the Now Playing screen, tap the Bluetooth symbol to choose whether to send audio to the A2DP accessory or to play through the iPhone or iPod itself. (The latter option will be either Speaker, Headphones, or Dock Connector, depending on what accessories are physically connected to the player.)

Oddly, this audio-device screen is also the only way to switch audio back to the iPhone or iPod's own outputs apart from turning off the accessory or unpairing the two devices--not an issue if you're already listening to music, but a hassle if you're doing something else.

Let me know

From rswurth:: "Now the iPhone starts playing music over Bluetooth media streaming once I start the car, it's a random track and I have no control over what is selected."

I have EXACTLY the same issue. I upgraded to iPhone 3.0, I have the latest Microsoft Sync 1.3 in my 09 Focus. Every time I start the car or even unplug the iPhone from the USB it automatically turns on Bluetooth and plays a random song. Not even where I left off. BEYOND frustrating.

I don't want to have to manually switch from Bluetooth to USB on the via the iPhone every time I get in the car. Not to mention the necessity of finding and starting my last played file. The auto start for the Bluetooth wouldn't be nearly so maddening if it would just start from where I left off!

I just want to either set the iPod feature to USB connector or turn off the Bluetooth stereo without turning off the Bluetooth phone.

I can't find anything about fixing the issue in Sync or the iPhone. Anyone???

Apple, if you can hear me, please give me the option to turn off the Bluetooth stereo in 3.01!

I have an "iPod Classic" connected via USB, and my iPhone 3GS connects via Bluetooth.

I find that if I had left it in bluetooth streaming mode, it continues to stream when I start my car. But, if I was using USB input (or FM, etc.) it sticks to that input.

My problem is the opposite.. I find it difficult to switch over to bluetooth streaming after the car is running. I have to go through a few layers of menus to switch to it, rather than just using a voice command.

They have to come out with a way to disable the Bluetooth audio stream throuugh the iPod.
I feel like the phone is ruined now. I can't stand it.
At least add a default playing option so it will jut ignore the Bluetooth.
I have an Acura btw.
Maybe I'll just disable the Bluetooth and use the ear buds w/ the mic for hands free driving.

I was also initially delighted with this new function, until it became annoying. I have not found a way to keep the phone from auto-playing via bluetooth, short of unpairing the phone from Sync altogether, thus losing the entire hands-free function of the iPhone in the car.

I did, however, find a much simpler way of stopping the music. I used to have to hit the home button and go into the iPod function of the phone and then press pause, since there is no actual "stop". Now I simply hit the pause button on the vehicle-side controls. Does the same thing.

I love the ver 3.0 enhancements, but this one needs a fix. Until a couple days ago, I was wondering what was eating my battery so quickly after installing the update.
