iPhone 3G S has yellowish tint

isnt it supposed to be "warmer"? i notice it but its not THAT yellow like some people are saying.

I'm doing the same thing tomorrow in Chicago. Tell me what you find out.

hmmm I didn't take notice of this Yellowish tint til i read this thread and compared my New 3GS to my Old first Gen iPhone. There's definitely a difference. Mine was delivered to me today so I guess I'll be making a visit to the Apple Store.

I have the same yellowish display in my 3GS. Less vivd color and a greyish black. I hope this can be fixed with a firmware update.

The 3GS display now is not as good as the old 3g display in direct comparison.

Please Apple fix the display. I hope it’s not just a cheaper panel :-((

I have never posted on these forums before but I had to post about this issue. I have upgraded from the original iPhone to the new 3GS and I have to say, the difference in colour between them are like chalk and cheese. With the original iPhone I wouldn't mind having the display on half brightness but with this one, to make whites even remotely look white I have to max out the brightness, otherwise they have a definite yellow tint.

We really need a setting that allows us to change these settings. Theres no way yellow-whites are preferred by anyone.

Yes, I agree. I wonder why Apple thinks anyone likes yellow/green white and greyish, colorless screens??

Apple, you should IMPROVE your products, at least in my opinion 🙂

I do not have the Push Notification for some reason. Its apparently app dependent so I must not have an app that uses push. Hard to believe.

I went in to AT&T compared my original phone to the 3Gs I put the new phone down and walked out of the store I will wait until they put a good display or give us an option to change display settings

Ya, it's supposed to have that yellowish tint to it. Keep complaining so they can fix it on the next firmware.

This came up with the 3g firmware updates months back and apple adjusted the calibration in the next firmware update...but it could have something to do with battery...

Well, FWIW, my 16GB Black 3GS does not look yellowish at all. I don't have a previous iPhone to compare to, but whites look very white to me.

Its not tht bad, but I prefer the 3g calibration.

since the yellow screen was a big deal when the 3G came out, the first thing i did when i got my 3G S was to compare the white balance against the 1st gen iphone (i don't have a 3G). and yes it is very yellow or "warm" versus the original iphone, but it also makes the original iphone look too "cool" and the whites on that have a very blueish/purplish tint.

not sure if it's worth bringing it to an apple store to have replaced. i have no way of knowing how other 3G S phone look, for all we know they all have the same yellowish white balance. i'm curious to hear the results from others who do go to the apple store. for those who did go, what did the geniuses say? where you able to compare to other 3G S phones? did you get a replacement? if you did get a replacement, are you now happy with the white balance?

I hope Apple can fix this sooner than later. The 3GS ist fast but the screen looks like antique...
