iPhone 3G S has yellowish tint

I just got my iPhone 3G S today and noticed that it has a distinctly yellowish tint to the screen. Doesn't matter what app I am using, and I've tried adjusting the brightness with no success.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

I have never posted on these forums before but I had to post about this issue. I have upgraded from the original iPhone to the new 3GS and I have to say, the difference in colour between them are like chalk and cheese. With the original iPhone I wouldn't mind having the display on half brightness but with this one, to make whites even remotely look white I have to max out the brightness, otherwise they have a definite yellow tint.

We really need a setting that allows us to change these settings. Theres no way yellow-whites are preferred by anyone.

since the yellow screen was a big deal when the 3G came out, the first thing i did when i got my 3G S was to compare the white balance against the 1st gen iphone (i don't have a 3G). and yes it is very yellow or "warm" versus the original iphone, but it also makes the original iphone look too "cool" and the whites on that have a very blueish/purplish tint.

not sure if it's worth bringing it to an apple store to have replaced. i have no way of knowing how other 3G S phone look, for all we know they all have the same yellowish white balance. i'm curious to hear the results from others who do go to the apple store. for those who did go, what did the geniuses say? where you able to compare to other 3G S phones? did you get a replacement? if you did get a replacement, are you now happy with the white balance?

this could all be fixed if apple put kelvin adjustments into the settings so we can manually adjust the white balance our selves.

This is a tough one. Not sure what to do. I dont want to be stuck with the display this way. Also i noticed my photos on 1st gen are sharp and vivid but same photos synced to 3gs from backup are washed-out, blurry and not vivid at all side by side. Major concern of mine!

I recall the first time I saw a friends 3G the moment he turned it on I said "what is wrong with your display"? That yellow warm hue instantly caught my eye. So if it was never fixed on 3G why would it be fixed on 3GS?

I would have it checked. Screen on the 3GS looks fine and no yellow tint. White is white on mine and my wifes. If it really is an issue I would get it looked at. Actually Apple can actually tell you at what temperature the screen has been calibrated to. 6500K is the standard for most TV and monitor settings. Blueish is > 6500K and reddish is <6500K I have a calibration tool for monitors and if I get a chance I will try to get a reading of the white level.

You might check your Brightness Settings. Mine had a yellowish/dingy color. Went into the Settings and the Brightness was not set to 100%. After changing everything looked White and sharp again like my original 2G phone and also compared it to a friends 3G phone and looked the same.

Just a thought before everyone tries to exchange a phone that is working fine.

I am at the apple store and have just confirmed that the phone should NOT have the yellow tint. The display models are perfect with no tint and my sister just bought a phone with no tint. They will not replace mine now. All the reviewers must gave gotten the first batch like is with the yellow tint. We all should get replacements, the other screen looks way better. Make sure you demand a replacement. They wouldn't help me at thus store because they hadn't heard of the issue yet from apple.
