iPhone 3G S has yellowish tint

aibo82...completely agree... we need to keep writing those like engadget snd such to ask them to do a complete teardown... the reason all of apples display screens look good here in the us is that they are all week 21 and 23.... i checked everyone of the 20+ at my nearby apple store. and my first phone from ATT was perfect screen, though it had a battery problem, so i swapped it out and wasnt able to get my old screen back, had i know the extent of the problem i would not have left without my old screen.... all we can do is continue to have our voices heard...it is unethical the way the techs deny the screen difference problem. if you take your phone to ATT and compare the staff there completely acknowledges the problem....

Agreed - Apple employees are required to state this. It's either that or lose their job, which in this economy, is not a wise thing to do. Try not to be angry at the employees, they don't have any choice and I'm sure they are very unhappy with having to misrepresent these things. It's the middle to upper management that has directed this circus as such and they are just following the typical path of large corporations with "Deny everything, admit nothing..."

Getting a 3GS screen like the store display models is still a very hit and miss lottery, with 1 in 5 odds of getting a decent screen (note, I didn't say perfect).

Allright maybe i'm a little bit crazy, but you know what ? I think i'm gonna sell my 3GS to buy a 3G cause i hate that ******* yellow screen , i hate that Poor strenght signal, i hate that poor battery Life ... that 3GS is my first iPhone but finally all that i want is to surf on internet anywhere, listen to my music and phone. I dont care if the 3GS is More powerfull with games, cause i dont Play on my iPhone finally and Even with safari i dont get any god **** signal with my 3GS ! So i prefer to have slower internet but at least something working and by the way with a perfect crisp and cool screen . My two cents. I bought three 3GS (2 white and 1 black). Two had darkish yellow blurred tint and one had a Perfect clear bluish tint. I've already returned the two and have tried again and again to get the same screen experience as my good one. I am planning on going back to the Apple store tomorrow to try again...

Apple is a joke...I'm never buying another apple product EVER again...I still can't believe that after this forum has grown so big, they still refuse to acknowledge the problem. It's ridiculous and really upsetting..You would think that after two previous generations of iPhones that the 3rd gen would have all the kinks worked out, but wow...the 3G S is worse than any iPhone i've ever had...I wish i could just get my 3G back.

@davehanson I completely agree. I am done with apple as well. I am awaiting the release of the htc hero here in the us and I will be (thankfully) leaving ATT as well

There are iPhones with different screens, that is for sure. But keep this tread in perspective. Around 98,567 people have viewed it. Many like me multiple times. Many without screen problems have viewed it. 865 people have posted to the tread. Many numerous times. This thread is a blimp on the map in comparison to the number of iPhones sold, and the number that have no screen issues.

I agree with most of your logic. However, one thing that is certain is that the majority of consumers with iPhones, do not know/care if their display is "yellow". I have compared my 3GS with multiple people and most reactions were "oh I didn't even notice my screen was yellow, but its no biggy". I truly believe there is a problem here (screens should vary a little, but as we have proof that there is a large jump in quality for some - it is undeniable proof there is a problem). Sure there have been 1+ million 3Gs sold, but maybe only 3% actually look at these forums (probably less).

They DO have screen issues—they just don't KNOW it (until they hold their phone up beside a non-****-stained-colored screen). First time iPhone buyers mainly.

i bought a 3GS and was a little horrified when i set it down next to my 3G. i didn't "set out" to compare them but i couldn't help but notice the drastic difference.

3G: MUCH brighter and more clear; "cooler", "blue-ish", more "realistic" to me

3GS: Unquestionably DIMMER; "yellow-ish" and "dull". i wouldn't call it "warm", i'd call it "washed out" & less "distinct" or distinguished

after i began using the 3GS as my daily phone i forgot about it but i'm still disappointed due to the loss of BRIGHTNESS.

the issue is real for sure. not a deal breaker but something to consider and look for when you make your next investment.
