Just bought my new iPhone 3GS. COOL! Turned it on, Digital Compass app was on first page and worked. Did my first synch to iTunes and restored my settings from previous iPhone 3G (which did NOT have Digital Compass).
Digital Compass app is now missing. Not even in my iTunes App page to synch.
How do I restore the Digital Compass program?

I thought the same thing happened, but it just moved to where there was an empty space a few pages up. When restoring to your old iPhone settings, it keeps your apps in the same order you left them in during your last sync. The compass will find its way to the first empty space you had
You are not supposed to be able to delete pre-installed apps. Swipe left to right to get the search page and search for compass, and see if search can find it.
Thanks much guys! I figured it had just moved it to a new page... but did two things wrong. I was looking for a name like Digital Compass, not Compass. And I was looking at the bottom of pages mostly.
I used Jim's technique of SEARCH and immediately got the app running. Then more diligently looked for "Compass" and found it in the middle of page 5. 😉
This raises an interesting question -- what is the purpose of this new app? I mean, I know they touted it from the Keynote and all, but I can't see ever in my life needing this...I've moved it to my last page where I never have to see it, along with the Stocks and iTunes icons...
It will orient your map for you also. Tap the blue globe bottom left once for your location and once again to orient the map. Great for city tourists as they emerge from the subway. Probably not much use in Ann Arbor, save it for your next trip to NYC.
I had my voice memo app disappear after syncing. It didn't even move to another page, the icon was just gone. Doing a spotlight search though located the app and it was able to launch, but still the icon did not show on any page. I had to go into settings and reset the home screen to get it to reappear again.
Hmm...I know most large cities by heart, I still can't see ever using this....well, I am sure some will find it useful, for me, its another needless app.
I think it will be highly useful. Think about coming up out of the subway in some really screwed up place like Boston (no offense intended). Orienting the map without walking a few hundred feet will be VERY handy. IMO.
