How can you edit a song in iTunes so that you can separate the part I want?

Some songs have LONG intros I'd like to edit out. For example, Elton John's Funeral for a friend/Love Lies Bleeding is only available as one track.
How can I edit out the FFAF part? (at least for the version I sync to my ipod.

Hey there,
One option is to change the songs starting time in iTunes. To change when a song starts and ends locate and highlight the song in iTunes. From there, right->click the song and choose "Get Info" from the Menu. When the window pops up, head over to the Options tab and in the middle of the window there are options to adjust the starting and ending times for that song or songs. When you are satisfied, go ahead and hit OK to apply the changes.
From there, sync the updates to your iPod.

And after you do as planb suggests, if you wish to create a new file consisting only of the part you want, highlight the track (with the Start/Stop options set as you wish) and use the command Advanced > Create MP3 (or AAC) Version.
