13" Macbook Pro - Display Bezel "Macbook" not "Macbook Pro"

Received my 13" MacBook Pro MB990LL/A from Amazon today

It definitely is the pro version of the 13" (FW800, solid cover on the bottom, etc)

I just noticed the model name on the lower part of the display bezel is Macbook -not- Macbook Pro. I just checked man date and its a 2009 week 22, shipped 6/10 from Apple to Amazon.

Using Terminal I found the panel is a LTN133AT09 so I know its upgrade version. I usually sell a system after 3 years and am a little concern that I will have to explain this to a buyer

Curious, what do others have on their Display, from what I can see the new !3" say Pro

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

That's very interesting. It could be possible that an old bezel got placed on a new machine. If it has the FW800 port then there is no doubt that it is a 13" MacBook Pro. I would call Apple, and explain the situation to them. They will most likely have the bezel replaced by an authorized service provider in your area ASAP, or have you ship the machine to them for replacement.

Thanks Travis and Brian for your replies

Considering the system is less then a day old, I really dont want them to replace the display (from what I am reading it they would replace the entire screen assembly, glass panel, lcd panel, aluminum back, etc.) I have had good experiences with Apple service but dont want to risk the chance of introducing a real problem.

I just wanted to make sure I had the new panel, and based on what I posted It looks like that is true. I purchased the 13" unibody Macbook when they first came out and returned it the next day, the panel was awful and could not be calibrated. This one is much better and I am guess it was one of the silent update models used at the end of the Macbook model life.

So my choices are to keep it or return it. Am going just keep it, am still curious to see if anyone else has seen this

Cmorr,

I would demand a replacement...here's why.

Most likely you have the the new 13.3" MBP bottom half due to the fact it has FW800, however you probably don't have the newest upgraded LED panel (screen). Missing Pro is a slap.

Go to a Apple Store and get the whole thing replaced NOW! If they can't I would do everything in your power to get your money back.

Quality control like that should not be an issue with the Apple name backing it up.

Keep up informed.

BTW, Im absolutely in love with my new 13.3" MBP.

I would 100% ask for a new computer. I have both a 13" MacBook unibody with the silent screen update and a MacBook Pro 13". The screen difference even in the updated MacBook screen compared to the MacBook Pro is very very noticeable. The 60% color gamma or whatever increase is true, especially noticeable in blacks. You may have a whole screen assembly from a MacBook and not a Pro. They were using those same panels in the MacBook that you listed because that is what I had in mine. That is not what was updated, it was the LED backlight. So, you may have gotten less than what you paid for. Again, I would send it back to Amazon for a return or replacement of the complete laptop.
