Picked up my new 3GS iPhone today and am having trouble with the screen (in a variety of apps) freezing up on me. I can quit the app, but can't get another app to open. Sometimes, I can't slide the power slider to work or flick to another screen. The home button continues to work.
Anyone else having this problem? Or know how to fix it. I'm gonna try resetting it.
Same thing is happening to me with my new 3GS!!! Glad to see I'm not the only one... Now we just need to find out if it's a software issue or we have bum hardware.
I'm having the same issue with my new phone freezing on me. If I put it to sleep then wake it back up it fixes it until it freezes again. I'm guessing a hardware issue because I did a restore on it and it does the same thing. I haven't even added any apps yet.
I solved my freezing problem. I took it back to the Apple Store and exchanged it with another 3GS. Luckily the freezing problem occurred while the Apple rep was checking it out. Replacement works great.

Having the same problem myself. Just managed to book into an Apple store. So taking it in and hopefully it will freeze while I am there!
I also had an overheating issue where within 5 mins my battery when from 45% to 5% and was extremely hot.
I think it is more of a hardware issue than software.
my phone will freeze up a lot as well. also its really annoying when the keyboard goes through a lag scheme. i have noticed that i rarely give this phone a nap. i keep it on 24/7. power it down for a night and usually that does the trick for me. also clear cookies, history, cache, recent calls etc... hope this works for you like it did for me. not sure if this is the correct fix but it works for me for a while. when the phone acts up i do it again. very similar to cleaning up a computers hard drive.
