Finally - a fix for Maxtor One Touch "sleep" issue!

I have a Maxtor One Touch 4 Plus external hard drive. There's been a bug with these drives which means OSX settings do not prevent the drive from going to sleep. Absolute nightmare for a PT audio drive.

I tried both XP & OSX, but no matter what changes I made to the OS drive settings, the drive always sleeps after 3 mins when connected to my iMac. I've been trying to get this sorted for a long time now... this was a known bug (which they say is an OSX issue, not Maxtor).

Anyway, finally got a fix from Maxtor / Seagate... and it works! Just thought I'd pass it on... it's a link to a small app that sets the drive to "never sleep"...

I stumbled across this while trying to figure out why my maxtor 1tb hd is going to sleep after only a few minutes. I downloaded the above link and installed the app on my macintosh HD, was I supposed to do it on the maxtor HD?

Now it seems that my macintosh HD is never going to sleep and the fan is always running, unless i force the computer into sleep mode. The fan never used to run all the time, it would just die off after a few minutes of inactivity, and now i have absolutely nothing open and it will still run for hours.

Is there a way to uninstall this app?
