Keeping Voice Memos Out Of My Music Library

When I create a voice memo and sync it, iTunes helpfully adds it to my music library. It's not music, and I don't want it in my meticulously ordered list.

Is this a bug that only I'm having, or is everyone enjoying this useful 'feature'?

iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.5.7), iPhone OS 3.0

Right now it's a "feature" by design. "iTunes automatically syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a backup if you delete them from iPhone." http://www.apple.com/iphone/how-to/#voice-memos.syncing-voice-memos

The only control you have is to opt not to have the voice memo playlist sync from your iTunes to your iphone. There's no way to opt out of the sync from your iPhone to iTunes.

This is a bit annoying!

If you examine the file info for the voice memo file within iTunes, it does have Media Kind correctly tagged as "Voice Memo" rather than "Music", but it still shows up under "Music".

I don't mind the files being in iTunes, but they should be treated separately like Video, Podcasts, Ringtones, etc....

Have sent feedback to Apple and suggest everyone else do the same.

keeping with this discussion... I erased my Voice Memos from iTunes, but now I want them back... how can I do this?

I tried syncing again, but they wont show up... :S
Also do you know if the back up saves the voice memos?

As I manage my playlists manually, there seems to be no way to stop it syncing without turning on automatic playlist synchronisation, then. How disappointing... I'll feed back, as you suggest.

This wasn't really solved, but thanks for the answers. I hope an iTunes update will do the trick.
