Some websites won't load

Does the web browser (Safari?) provide a certain error? If so, what is it?

Are you connected through a router? If so check the router firmware and make sure there are no filters turned on.

It could be a DNS issue. As a test, try using the settings provided by OpenDNS:

https://www.opendns.com/start/device/apple-osx-leopard

(For step #3, if you're using a wireless/airport connection, select that rather than the shown 'Ethernet' selection.)

In Safari, go to Safari > Reset Safari.... Make sure all check boxes are checked, and click Reset.

HI I am having the same problem.

1. The Activity window on Safari doesn't show anything. Sometimes it shows a ?.

2. Booted on Safe Mode and the same thing.

3. Connected wired to the Time Capsule, Wired to the Modem and same problem but connected Wireless with Airport and it works.

4. No software PeerGuardian or Firewall installed.

5. Network utility was unable to Ping apple.com or me.com.

6. Put the OpenDNS settings and I am still not able to go to Apple.com or me.com but I am able to ping with Network Utility and if I enter the IP of Apple.com it loads. However, Me.com doesn't.

7. Tried creating another account and problem is the same.

8. With any other computer the problem is not there.

9. Direct connection with ethernet to a computer works fine for data transfer or any other DL works also fine without interruption.

I have been using Airport up until now but now I am setting a Server and I need the Ethernet working fine.

Repair disk permissions.

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Ok... but try repairing disk permissions... and definitely follow the instructions at the link "iBod" suggested for Open DNS.

Check .. ~Library/Internet Plugins

and ~Library/Input Managers.

If there are any files in those folders, delete them.

Also, try restarting Safari. From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Reset. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Restart your Mac.

Re: Your MobileMe account and mail. Have you tried using the Mac Mail application?

Nothing on Plugins or Input Manager.

Reset Safari and Apple.com worked but it stopped working again. Mobileme's website doesn't work. It loads the address bar but infinite loading.

The Mac Mail application works fine with my MobileMe account but the syncing doesn't unless I'm on Wireless.

Might be a corrupted cache file. Go to the Finder:

In your User Account>Library>Cache>com.apple.safari folder, move the cache.db file to the trash, then restart Safari.

Done... and problem is still there.

It just doesn't fit in my head, what could be happening.
I am going try to boot from the Macbook on Firewire and see if the problem is there.

So I booted out of my other Macbook through Firewire and I am able to use the Ethernet card of the macbook to go anywhere. MobileMe syncing works and everything is fine.

It's something with my Power Mac and the Ethernet card but what?

Any other suggestions?
