Proxy connection on iPhone

I need to know how to enable a Proxy connection, using 3G or EDGE. I’ve already found this option with wifi and VPN networks, but that’s not the case.
I was excited with OS 3.0, because one of the “100 new features” announced was “proxy support”.

Is it possible to use proxy connection on EDGE or 3G networks?

iPhone, iPhone OS 3.0, Windows 7

I enabled PROXY server using iPhone Configuration Utility. Just create a profile with the APN and PROXY you need. Then when you will begin browsing iPhone will ask your credentials.

I'm using my company APN and proxy and browsing is OK. The only problem is that other applications (wheater, eBay, Facebook,...) seem not to funtion properly with this configuration. I'm waiting to understand if the problem depends on Proxy server or on Applications.....

If I try to login in igoogle or my bank or new facebook page (formatted for iphone) nothing happens. All this after upgrading to 3.1 and the same problem with 3.1.2. Other friends with 3.0.1 and my own profile with proxy settings, 3g or 3gs , have no problems. If I try to buy on app store I give an error. No problem with other web pages an maps. Skype ,now, not work.Maybe depend from new Iphone configuration utilty ?
I work in Telecom IT.I written to Apple too.
