I got the new Iphone 3GS 32 mb version and my SMS messages disappear before I can read them or right after I send them! I had updated my prvious 3G iphone with the new OS 3.0 and that one does not have a problem, could this be a hardware glitch???
Hello Karakara14,
I just got my first iPhone Friday so I am really guessing here, but what is you lock setting set at...? I just thought maybe you had it set to 1 minute and possibly it was locking the phone back before you could finish reading your text.I may be over simplifying this issues. If so please accept my apology.
Thanks for your reply BT22, but it is not even locked at this point. This is my 3rd I-phone and had not experienced such a glitch, thus I figure it must be a hardware problem, as my 2nd generation 3g phone has the new OS 3.0 system on it and that one does not have this problem.
Lots of people have been having this problem, but here's the fix from another post:
"I had the same problem, found out what the problem was. I had synced my new iPhone3GS to a back up of my old iPhone from 2007. Same thing happened where I only had showing my 2007 text messages. When you restore your iPhone 3GS then you get the back up from the computer, there is a pull down choice. Make sure when you choose you do not sync to an the original iPHone. once I restored the phone and then synced it with my old setting of my iPhone 3G and it was fine...there were all my old texts (right up to date) and when I got a text it remained in messages."
I tried this myself and it works, now my texts will save. Hope this helps.
I'm having the same problem. This is my first iPhone and it's only happened since the 3.0 update, which I only did a couple of days ago. I don't have a solution yet, but would love to hear one if anyone does.
martello90 - My solution was to treat it as a new phone on the check box rather than a drop down and not restore. Just made sure my email (outlook) contacts were up to date and synced them up. You lose your texts and have to redo email and a few other bits but solved the problem !
