I got the new iphone 3GS. Right now, if someone leaves a voicemail it beeps once and that's it. This is fine, except when I am not near my phone when this beep sounds. (I would have to manually check the phone to see if anyone called).

I would like the phone to beep as a reminder that I have a voicemail waiting say every 5 or 10 minutes until I listen to it (or purposely acknowledge there is a vm for me and decide to listen to it later). Can anyone tell me how to set up a "repeat" voicemail alert? (Every phone I have owned has had this).

iphone 3GS, iPhone OS 3.0

Submit your request and wait and see if they do it. Or buy a phone that has this feature if is critical to you. I only hope if they ever implement it includes a switch to turn it off.

The iPhone does not include a repeat alert for voicemail.

Previous phones that I've used included such a repeat alert which could not be turned off. I didn't like it much having to be forced to handle my phone to look at a missed call/voicemail to stop the repeat alert sound.

If Apple includes a repeat alert for voicemail with a future update, I sure hope there is an option to turn it on/off.

It is surprising iphone does not have this feature. My 5 year previous cell phone had the feature, but would also give you the option to disable it if you just wanted 1 beep. That way if you step away from your cell or get busy, you at least had a repeat reminder to check your voicemail. This is CRITICAL in Emergency situations (medical) or time sensitive things that can come up, especially if you don't know about them in advance.

Can we have more discussion on this? Are we sure this simple feature does not exist for the iphone?? Is there an Application I can get that will help solve this problem? I am sure I am not the only one who could benefit from it.

I agree this would be a nice addition to the phone, I would submit it as a suggestion to apple.

Not important to me. I have lived without it since the release of the 1st
iPhone way back and this is my 3rd gen of iPhone.

Being your so worried, all I can think if is to either carry the iPhone with
you all the time or start checking it when you get back from whatever your doing.
