Push email from Earthlink?

I have an Earthlink POP email account. They claim it should "push". I've set my iPhone (with 3.0) to "push" ON in the mail part of Settings - but no joy. I get no mail pushed. Am I missing something or am I right in thinking that Earthlink is wrong and POP accounts don't/can't push?

Address: Full e-mail address
Description: Self-explanitory

Host Name: pop.earthlink.net
Username: Full earthlink e-mail
Password: your password

OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
should be: smtpauth.earthlink.net

(click to go into the smtpauth server info, then click it again to enter the primary outgoing server info page)

Within the primary outgoing server info page, enter:

Server: on
Host Name: smtpauth.earthlink.net
User Name: your complete earthlink e-mail address
Use SSL: off
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 25

Use ssl: off
Authenication: MD5 Challenge Response
Delete from server: your choice
Server Port: 110

p.s. ( I did go into the settings and choose manual push, and then re-chose 15 minute push) BOTH WORK FINE !

Don't know if that triggered something.

No one is disputing that it is possible to access an Eartlink account with the iPhone's Mail client, but an Earthlink account can be accessed as a POP account only, and Push access is not supported with a POP account. An Earthlink account can be automatically checked for new messages - which is what the Fetch setting is for, or manually checked for new messages.

It doesn't matter if Push access is on globally for your iPhone, which is for more than email accounts that support push, which is not supported with a POP account, and an Earthlink account can be accessed as a POP account only with an email client. You do not have push access with your Earthlink account. Your Earthlink account is being automatically checked for new messages every 15 minutes, which is your Fetch setting.
