Other party now hears an echo when using car bluetooth

The following problem only started when I upgraded to the iPhone 3Gs on Friday. Whenever I call someone (either wireless or landline) from my car (iPhone + Cadillac STS bluetooth), the other party can hear an echo of their own voice. It seems to be much worse over 3G, but there is still a faint echo with Edge.

Any suggestions. I would try to search, but it seems to be down.

Thanks,

Craig

It sounds like you have a feedback starting from your car's speaker back to the microphone.
Your car bluetooth uses the car speakers to output the voice. If the system does not have an echo cancellation, your caller will hear their own voice. The only way to eliminate your problem is turn down your car's stereo volume.

That's the reason I don't like to use car bluetooth handsfree speaker phone. I use Bluetooth headset to eliminate echo plus privacy.

A good example is when I was walking on the street yesterday, I heard the lady calling using her Bluetooth system in the Toyota Prius. Her windows were all shut but I could hear her conversation.
