Firepod V FP10

Firepod V FP10

Im looking to buy a new interface and have been recommended the Presonus FP10 for use with Garageband. Is there any significant difference between the Firepod and the FP10?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

the FP10 IS the FirePod, renamed.

(i have a FirePod, BTW, and love it)

not that I know of, i believe the specs are the same

(my gut tells me that they may have gotten a bit of flack for the "pod" part of the name and just decided it was easiest to rename it, but i have no documentation to back up that guess)

One other quick question, I have heard that firewire is not going to continue for much longer and that Macs may stop having firewire inputs in their laptops - Do you know if there are any alternative interfaces that are up to the standard of the FIrepod that use USB?

imo Apple answered that by bringing FireWire BACK to the laptop line, and in fact offering the higher bandwidth FW800 (which is backwards compatible with FW400)
