iPhone slow after upgrade: any solution?

After the upgrade to 3.0 my iPhone 3g 8Gb has become extremely slow and unresponsive.
At the beginning it was difficult even to scroll amongst windows then, after some trials and some suggestions things went definitely better but the phone is again slow and its response could be defined 'intermittent'.
i followed these steps:
restore the phone
disable push
disable gps
disable Bluetooth
disable wifi
go in airlplane mode
and last, on suggestion, disable search.
This Last step has made the iPhone usable but has not solved the problem completely.
Any other suggestion or news abou this matter?

How many apps do you have installed on the phone? Lots of apps can cause major slowdowns.

just curious have you done a restore with no backup (setup as new phone)?

you would just loose app data... just verify you contacts pics etc are stored on the mac first?

Thanks for your answer.

I don't have so many applications, about 30 and some of that, like WifiTrack are gone, i.e. don't work anymore.

I understand too that most of them will be upgraded to be 3.0 compatible so I don't care so much about them but the OS hiccups are another question.

No, I have not done a restore with no backup but I'll try (when my job will let me some time to spend for myself).

Contacts, music, calendars etc. work fine (I don't have pictures on my iPhone) but everything "feels" slow and intermittent.

I'll let you know about the complete initialization.
