Child folder creation

One thing I've noticed is that when I attempt to create a child folder inside a parent folder, the new folder get's put in the same tree as the parent and I have to manually move it into the parent folder. For instance, if I try and create a subfolder called Kitsap Sun articles inside the parent folder Washington Newspaper articles, Leopard will create the new folder in the main directory tree and I have to move it.

Perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong?

I would be most grateful for any insight anyone would provide on this query.

What I think is happening is that you are trying to create a new folder in List view. Essentially, you are creating the new folder in the folder that is represented by the window name, not the folder you have selected.

You can use Column view to do what you want. As you move into the hierarchy, you'll see the window title change to the selected folder. Therefore, when you create a new folder, it is created in the folder that you want.
