Audiobooks losing their saved spots! Help!

When I stop listening to an audiobook it saves my spot. But if I play anything else within the iPod app, it loses the saved spot! This never happened on my iTouch. On my iTouch, I could listen to multiple audiobooks and each one would remember where I left off.

As I have to get through my audiobook for work, I have stopped listening to music or podcasts so I won't lose my spot in the audiobook. Are there any solutions? My fiancee won't give me my iTouch back...

Thanks!

I am experiencing the exact same problem with my iPhone 3G, since updating to 3.0. Each time a podcast or audiobook file is added or removed, the next time I open Ipod I get the message "Updating library", which seems to reset playback information on all other podcast or audiobook files. Let me stress the fact that this behavior was not present prior to updating to the 3.0 OS.

Count me among those who are absolutely convinced that this a 3.0 related bug, and it's really **ing me off.

I am currenty syncing my iPhone on a PC running Windows 7, as I was doing with the previous iPhone OS.

Definitely a bug. I've taken to writing down where I'm at in an audiobook prior to connecting to my computer in any way. Doesn't always happen when connecting but always does when I sync.

I'm at about the 16 hour mark in an unabridged version of Atlas Shrugged and have another 45 hours to go. Read it in college but that was 30 years ago now. Never dreamed then that I'd be listening to it on a pocket computer/telephone. I mean where would the punch cards go?

Maybe they'll fix this bug before I'm done with the book.

I have the same problem and so does my wife. It is quite annoying. I've tipple checked all settings and everything is set correctly. It worked fine before 3.0, but since.... bye bye last position.

I have many friends with iPhones and the problem seems to only affect some of them.

I too have taken to writing down the chapter and remaining minutes before I sync for each book I'm listening to.

It also is wiping the watched/not watched flag on videos as well.

Had I know this was the price for cut-n-paste and universal search I'd have opted out. 😟

Oh my god! It's so annoying. I have a first generation iPhone and have been watching TV and listening to Podcasts and audiobooks on it for two years - and ever since I installed the 3.0 software, it can't seem to remember **** - even in-between syncs. For example, I'll listen to an audiobook on my way to the gym, and then watch a TV show and a half at the gym, and when I go back to my audiobook on my way home, my spot in my audiobook is no longer saved!

I'm contributing to this thread more so Apple has more feedback on this bug than anything else, but solidarity doesn't hurt either!
