Slow Image loading on internet.

Hi, for about the last week or two, My internet has been running very slow compared to normal, especially when it comes to loading images. Downloads and streaming videos hasnt seemed to lose any speed, but loading web pages and images has really dropped in speed. Ive tried both safari and firefox and still the same outcome in both. ive also repaired my disk permissions and updated all my software. im running out of ideas. any help would be much more then appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Have you cleared the cache files from both browsers? Have you checked your browsers at a different ISP? There could be many factors other than updating software, etc. You need to eliminate the easy stuff first. Could be your ISP. Could be your router or modem. We don't have much info on that so it's hard to advise. Does it happen on all web sites or just some? The same ones? Could be those web sites... In any case before I start saying what's wrong with me I assume first it's them and proceed from there.

Hi,

I have had the same problems for a long time.
Looked, googled and tried many things to solve the problem. up to alternate dns addresses etc...

But finally my problem got fixed due to the firewall on my router as stuart412 already suggested.
Just turned it off and my Mac is suddenly fast loading images in google.maps, hyves, googel image finder etc....

I now can really start to enjoy my Mac!!

Thank you!

Sig:

I was experiencing exactly the same problem as Rarick513, with slow loading images. I visited the Apple Store Genius. He told me it was my ISP. I knew that was not the case, because I have several Windows PC's on the same network and they were working fine. Only my two Mac's, one running 10.5.8, the other running 10.5.6 were experiencing this problem.

As soon as I entered the DNS servers, as you suggested, the problem disappeared. Thank you so much for your help. You are a life saver!!!

I have only one more question. What could have changed to require the need for me to manually enter a DNS server, where one was never used before?

Thanks again,
Dean

sig's solution works for me too - i just bought a macbook pro with snow leopard and noticed that google images and ebay thumbnails were not loading... i have a belkin wireless router adsl modem. I was not sure there was even a problem until i used my friend's laptop at her place and everything loaded super fast as it should. I have done sig's suggestion and images are now loading - not as quick as expected, but a huge improvement to what was happening before. These are IPv4 addresses of OpenDNS which I have read is perfectly safe in case you might be wondering. Thank you so much, looking on ebay is so much more enjoyable now!

sig, ive empty my cache and also went through and deleted a bunch of junk off my hard drive as well. I brought my laptop to work and used their isp and it was still the same. my modem and router seem to be working fine for my other computers. it happens on every website as well, anytime it comes to opening a page and image loading it slows down quite a bit. I tried Tbux suggestions as well but it didnt seem to help..
