Controlling Apple TV with Harmony 890 remote

I have a Harmony RF extended universal remote. I've tried using the IR codes I get from logitech, and also recording my own from the Apple remote, but no matter what I do, I cannot get the shuttle controls to work properly.

Fast Forward always skips to the next chapter, and sometimes it then fast forwards, but usually not.

I am at wits end.

Using the iPhone remote app works flawlessly, but that doesn't help when my phone is not home for others to use.

MacBook Pro (Late 2008), Mac OS X (10.5.7)

1st of all this is likely a mute issue with the new software release that came out yesterday since the controls are separated rt. and lt. click initiate a rwd and ffwd and click down to get chapter markers view/mode and single click to go prev/next chapter

i have the logitech harmony one using logitech's own codes that seems to work ok with the previous software version... single click for next previous and click and hold kind get it into ffwd/rwd mode and from there a single click makes it ffwd and rwd faster.

With the new 2.4 software this will change a bit. I haven't updated yet so I don't know what effect it will have, but....

With my Harmony to skip chapters I press the Fast Forward button once, to use true Fast Forward I need to Press and Hold the FF button. This then gets me into "FF mode". It should then show the one arrow (signifying FF) then you can press the button again to increase the speed of your forwarding (2 arrows will show up on the screen), etc. Press Play to return to normal speed.

Again this is works for me under 2.3.1 ATV OS, but the whole FF thing changes a bit with the 2.4 update.

If you take a look at "Customize Buttons" or something like that in the Harmony software, you'll find a variety of commands that do subtly different things. Off the top of my head, it's something like this:

Navigate Right/Left = same behavior as Apple Remote
Next/Previous Chapter = always skip chapters (whether you hold it down or not)
FF/RW = always enter scanning mode (whether you hold it down or not)

I have my navigation arrows set to those commands, the channel up/down set to control chapters, and the FF/RW buttons set to those commands. Works the same with 2.4.
