Connection to one Modem
I have Airport Extreme and it was working great for two years, but lately it is loosing the connection all the time, also my VOIP phone is not making clear calls, the quality is not the same after Extreme started with these problems.
My connection to the modem is Modem - Airport Extreme and in the back of the Extreme I have two Voip phones.
I want to take one Voip phone and connect directly to the modem, until I figure out what is up with Airport Extreme. My modem just have one Ethernet port, what it is connected to the Airport Extreme, what I would like to keep like this and one USB type B port that I would like to connect to the Voip phone. What device should I use for this? I am talking about one device/cable with USB type B in one end and Ethernet in the other end. I thought about using the RJ45 Splitter Ethernet Cable, but can I connect the Modem to the RJ45 and the Airport Extreme and the Voip phone to the RJ45? I saw some Network diagrams and the RJ45 is always connected to the router first, then PC or IP phone, never to the modem then to the other devices.
Or Should I use an USB 5 in 1 network kits?
I know that Airport Extreme is not working the same way and I understand that other users are having the same problems, but while we do not have any answer for this problem, this is the solution I found at the least to have phone connection in the house.
Will this change affect the Airport Extreme?
My neighbor next door has Airport Extreme also and I heard that it could be some kind of Network interference, but he had before Extreme started to loose the connections. Also we have 4 apple laptops in the house, an apple tv and 3 iphones, I wonder if any of this interfere also.
