Q: Download error. Tap to retry

After trying to rent a movie on iTunes directly from my iphone 3G (with 3.0) the movie appears in the downloads area but says 'Download Error. Tap to retry.' The movie will not download even if I'm connected to WiFi. How can I either get the movie to download or cancel the purchase? Have I been charged? At this point I'd like to just make it go away. Please help.

Download Errror, Tap to download on iPad.

You don't have to download this, just go to your movies icon on your ipad and delete any previously downloaded movies by tapping and holding on the movie icon, when an x is displayed on the movie icon remove your finger and tap on the x to delete the move. Once I deleted the old movies on my iPad, the movie downloaded with no problem.

I had a similar problem on my iPhone4S. The fail files with ‘download error, tap to retry’ had never disappeared from the Downloads folder.

I found out that if you touch the down-arrow(for retry) icon and flip to the left, the “delete” icon appears. After tapping this icon and reboot your iPhone, the Downloads folder will be cleared.

    Hope this will help.

Many, many thanks to Hipoaki for his suggestion to touch the down-arrow (for retry) icon and flip to the left (slide finger to the left), the delete icon appears. I had the download problem with my ipad2 and this suggestion worked like a charm!!!!  This had been a problem that I struggled with for about a week and I would never had thought to tap and slide (swipe) to the left.  I even called Apple customer support and got no help with this problem.  This solution really works.  Again, thanks for Hipoaki.  BTW, why cannot the customer service people be helpful with problems like this?  My experience with Apple customer service is that they have ineffective and incompetent people.  Is that the case generally?

I found a simple solution for iPhone:

Just delete the application(s) whose download can not be completed, and install them again as new.

    It worked fine for me!

PS: it must work for Ipad too, I guess.
