Iphone cutting out for no reason!!!

I just got the new iphone 3Gs and when I am in an app/using safari/on a call/or even texting, it cuts out (locks out and goes to home page) for no particular reasons!! Am I the only one having this problem?

MBP 15'', Mac OS X (10.5.7)

mine is cutting out like that too...blacking out you mean?? acting like it went to sleep, while you are browsing the apps or whatever?...Ive had my iphone 3g s only 1 day... it stayed in stand by mode and battery is almost dead after only 6hrs...
think i am taking it in to be checked!!

I called my wireless carrier and they said to do a hard reboot (holding the home button and the on/off/sleep button) then, restoring the Iphone to original setting in itunes (backing up the thing you have on it ...it you want) and it should work! will keep you guys posted!! thanks!
