Can't Capture A HD Movie.

Hi when i capture a HD video From my camera canon HV20 To final Cut Express it captures just a little Bit And the computer Freezes. I have Mac Mini and i use firewire 800. Any syggestion please help

How is the camera connected to the computer? Do you have an external drive connected? What's the drive and how is formatted and connected? What settings are you using in FCE?
