iPhone 3G S and Kenwood DNX-6140

Not impressed so far. I have a Kenwood DNX6140 bluetooth enabled head unit in my car and a new iPhone 3G S. I use the docking cable to play music over, but everytime I get in my car, it automatically connects in A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Bluetooth stereo audio is crap compared to the cable, so I don't want to use that. Also every time I make a phone call, my phone doesn't stop music play back if it's hooked up over bluetooth....odd. does anyone have any suggestions?

I am in the EXACT same boat. I called Kenwood and was told it is an iPhone issue. The music only plays over the phone if I use the voice command to call someone while listening to the music through the ipod source (cabled). I am still in search of a solution because it is soo annoying. See my post here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1140338&page=6

Also, do you notice that if you have the phone plugged in when the car is off and then turn it on, the music will stop after 5-10 seconds and you will be forced to unplug and replug the phone?

I have the same problem using iPhone 3G w/ the DNX9140. My dealer contacted Kenwood and was told it was an Apple/iPhone problem. Here's what I'm seeing:

- I connect my iPhone via a cable as the DNX9140 starts up. It plays music for about 6 seconds, and then cuts out. I believe this is because the streaming Bluetooth kicks in, but there is no sound.

- When I go into the Kenwood's Bluetooth setup and disable the A2DP, the sound come back. Unfortunately, this setting does not stay disabled after I turn the car off.

- I can also make the sound come back by going to my iPhone's iPod "Now Playing" screen and hitting the Bluetooth icon at the bottom of the screen that allows me to toggle between the DNX 9140 bluetooth and the dock connector.

Both of these are kludgey, a pain in the butt, not to mention dangerous to do while I'm driving. Apple needs to figure out how to make this just work, or allow me to disable the stupid A2DP feature.

Go to setup --> bluetooth setup --> "set" a2dp connect device --> click your phone --> if it says connect next to "audio(a2dp)" click "audio" and it should disconnect.

My boyfriend was trying to get it to connect and while I googled and found your post he figured it out. So disconnect your phone from A2DP if you don't want it playing that way. It sounds the same for us hooked up through the cable or not.

Good luck

I have a new 2010 VW Jetta TDI Sportwagen. I recently had the Kenwood DNX9140 installed. It drops the phone connection, but it finds my address book. All firmware for both the iPhone and the 9140 are up to date. I will use the previous recommendation to disable the Bluetooth streaming audio, because I did not like it in the car's original radio. I have also noticed that Bluetooth streaming audio runs the iPhone battery down at an incredible rate.
