how to open .npr file into logic?

a recording client wanted to add some hand drum tracks so I sent out some 2-track mixes for overdubbing. Apparently this studio uses Nuendo and the engineer is not that faniliar with swapping tracks around with other studios and other platforms. I requested files in folders, consolidated from the zero point of the files I provided, but received several .npr files and one audio file folder with all tracks from all songs in them. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go back to that engineer and ask for consolidated tracks in folders but I'm wondering if there is any way to open the .npr files in logic?

Unless the .npr format is just a wrapper similar to AIFF or WAV, then I'm afraid the answer is 'no'. (You could try simply changing the extension, but this really isn't recommended!) As far as I can tell from a quick search the answer is that these are more like Song files, but please check yourself.

You could also search for conversion utilities.

I note you've asked this question on another Forum, but with no replies… better luck here!

+_Logic Pro can export and import the following file formats:_+
+• Audio files (derived from regions or tracks): These can be saved in WAV, AIF, SDII, Apple Lossless, MP3, and AAC formats.+
+• GarageBand projects+
+• OMF (Open Media Framework, also known as OMFI—Open Media Framework Interchange)+
+• AAF (Advanced Authoring Format)+
+• OpenTL (Open Track List)+
+• Final Cut Pro XML+
+• MIDI Files (derived from selected, or all, MIDI regions)+

The .npr file is purely a Nuendo file so it can't be used by Logic.

If you google '.npr' there is a utility to display the file as text somewhere - not sure what it shows or that it would be any good to you though.

As you say, the audio files need to cover the length of the project including all the silences before or between the recorded parts if no compatibility exists between platforms so the guy who supplied you with the files needs to understand this.

one audio file folder with all tracks from all songs in them

If those audio files are .WAV(BWF) format, you can use those. Just load them in to Logic, select the regions 'Move to original positions.' You may have to change you SMPTE settings so that it corresponds with Nuendo's settings (usually just changing the hour setting). But you said 'all songs' so you (hopefully) can find the tracks you need.
