Final Cut Express HD serial number

I had to reinstall Leopard today. I use Time Machine and the restore was effortless, great. Only problem now is I tried to launch Final Cut Express HD and it asked for a serial number. I pulled out the card with the sticker on it, entered the number, and it said it was not correct. I did it so carefully, after that, and same thing. I have done it four or five times with the same result. The serial has on O in it, and I tried it as a O and an 0, still no luck.

You cannot re-install FCE properly from Time Machine.

You must use the original installation DVD.

You also need to get rid of all traces of FCE first ...... use FCS Remover:-

Well, I ran the remover, and tried to reinstall, it still says my serial number is invalid. I am not entering if off a piece of paper I transferred it to, I am reading it off the official label. I think I need to get in touch with Apple Software Support.
I am having the same issue with LiveType, only I cannot find that serial number.

It is almost certain that you are entering your number incorrectly ....... either the wrong letters or numbers, lower case instead of upper, or leaving spaces in the beginning, middle or end.

As far as I can remember, LT doesn't have a serial number other than FCE's.

A small l and the figure 1 are easily mixed up. Double check.

11 digits, all upper case. Starts with R17E04..... There is an L later on, and since it is all upper case, there is no problem of mistaking it for a 1. I have entered 0 and O, no difference.

Don't forget the dashes. Ezero4 is very unlikely, more likely Eoh4. The one may be an eye or vice versa.

It sounds as though you are not looking at the serial number.

There are around 32 letters/numbers mainly in groups of 3.

You need to contact Apple with an installation issue. BTW Migration Assistant should not be used with the pro apps.

I had a similar problem and it turned out the issue was with caps. My serial number was printed on the sticker in all caps, and so I typed in the number that way and it wouldn't accept it. After several tries, I typed it in lower case and, surprisingly, that worked.

I upgraded to final cut 4 HD and after a migration from time machine it requires the Serial # which i have. But due to it being an upgrade, it is requesting my previous version serial which i no longer have, or at least i cannot find.

Is there any options for me at this point? Will apple have my previous serial and look it up for me?
