How do I sync my iCal with my iPhone?

I've read the book of rules PDF and they say go to iTunes and "preferences" and set the iPhone to sync with iCal.

I do not find anything in preferences that indicate syncing with iCal!

I do not use MobleMe or any other method. I just input to my iCal then want to sync with the iPhone.

Appreciate any good instructions on how to do that.

I do not use Automatic sync either.

Boy Ferd II Do I have egg on my face. If I had scrolled in the "info" tab it would have become obvious what to do! I have no excuse except I'm new at syncing and I'll stick to it.

Thanks a bunch.

You are on a roll with answering my question so I have one more. When I connect my iPhone, iPhoto use to come up first. I have found how to stop that but I have not found how to have iTunes come up when I connect. Really appreciate you help today.

LarryB,
I have found how to stop that but I have not found how to have iTunes come up when I connect.

I have not found a definitive answer to that question. How to prevent iTunes from opening when iPhone connected [Archive] - The macosxhints Forums contains some conflicting information.

I played around with some of the recommendations in that link, and since I want iTunes to open when connecting the iPhone, the only thing that I did not try was removing iTunesHelper from my Login Items.

I personally want iTunes to open when the iPhone is connected.

LarryB,

You may want to delete iTunesHelper from Startup Items (Keep the Login Items window open). Then go to Applications>iTunes>Right Click on iTunes application>Show Package Contents>Resources> iTunesHelper>Drag iTH to the "Accounts" "Login Items" window, and log out/in or restart and see what happens.

Also read: Apple - Support - Discussions - iPhone will not start iTunes but will ... for additional hints.

Reinstalling iTunes also seems to be an option.

I tried the first part above and that made no difference. I will read your recommendation and then re-install iTunes.

Thanks again and I'll update when finished.

I tried everything I read on the "recommended reading" to no avail.
I then reinstalled iTunes and also did not solve my problem.

I am using version 8.2 iTunes and do not have a checkbox to open iTunes when iPhone is connected under the summary tab as someone indicated on the "reading".

The only way it works for me is to check Auto Sync.
