Ipod gets blank calendar alarm prompt, then freezes

Hey folks, I've searched this issue here and elsewhere and found others with the issue, but no solution. I get occasional calendar alarms that are blank and when I choose "dismiss" the ipod crashes and resets. Does anyone know the solution? This is getting really frustrating.

FYI, I using this ipod with iTunes 8.2 and OSX 10.5.7
